What is an AI BOM?

An AI Bill of Materials (BOM) is a detailed inventory of all the components that make up an artificial intelligence system. Similar to a software BOM (SBOM), it provides a comprehensive list of ingredients, but is tailored for the unique complexities of AI. This includes datasets, models, software libraries, and crucial metadata about training, performance, and risk. The SPDX 3.0 AI Profile provides a standardized way to create these BOMs, fostering greater transparency, security, and responsible AI development.
